DOMA Leads to Unfair Treatment

31 03 2006

Another Federal Income Tax filing deadline rolls around.  Another year to be reminded that gay persons are not equal under the law to our straight counterparts.

George Bush Gets the Blues

30 03 2006

How are those red states working out for you now Georgie old boy?

Justice Scalia’s Stance on Gay Rights

30 03 2006

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia seemed to suggest that "homosexual conduct" should remain a criminal act. With all the Christian love in my heart, I have a message for him in his own words.

Oh, and he is quoted as saying he has nothing against homosexuals. I would hate to hear his opinion if he did.

McCain Flip Flops

29 03 2006

I guess they all just eventually cave in and give up any sense of principle.  I had such hopes for McCain.  I supported him for 2000 and thought he got a very raw deal.  I was hoping to support him for 2008 but alas, it seems he is heading to the crossroads in order to get elected.

Delay – “Give Me Back My Gun”

28 03 2006

I thought Republicans were supposed to support strict enforcement of the law. Would the honorable Mr. Delay want any other person indicted for a felony to be licensed to carry a firearm?

Kaneb Utah, Equal Opportunity Offender

Funny how tolerant folks become when you hit them in the pocketbook.

Et Tu John?

28 03 2006

John McCain was probably the best bet for a moderate national Republican candidate for President in 2008. Seems however that he has begun to court the dark side. I guess it is true that no Republican can be elected without the support of the bigoted far right and that says a lot about the Republican party. Theirs might be a big tent but admission is strictly limited.

CBS Dispels Gay Myths

28 03 2006

Even though it seemed to reduce all gay men to the more effeminate side of the spectrum, it was nice to see a major mainstream news program such as 60 Minutes dispel as myth a lot of the rot the anti-gay faction of this country trots out as gospel.

Parent Acknowledges Gay People Exist

27 03 2006

And just what is wrong with that?

It would seem responsible for a parent to find an age appropriate part of a film to play for a curious child. One can only speculate based upon the title of his post, that JPod of the National Review Online thinks it is beyond the pale that any parent would expose their child to the fact that gay people exist.

One can also speculate that he would most likely be ok with parents informing their children about gay people as long as the discussion was along the lines of this. You know the drill. Gay people evil. Gay people sick. Gay people the "number one issue in America today."

Can you just feel the Christian love?

Gay Men With Straight Lives

Study shows there are many people for whom Brokeback Mountain is reality.

Homophobia Denies Brokeback Oscar

6 03 2006

I’m not ready to go quite this far. The Oscars are voted on by members of the academy and heck, half of the academy was in Crash. A picture should not win because of its subject matter but because it is an excellent film. I always thought Good Night and Good Luck a better film than Brokeback Mountain and it was my choice for Best Picture.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

6 03 2006

I can’t quite put my finger on it but something about this post over at NRO smacks of disdain. Maybe it is the ending sentence which sums up the conservative position regarding gay people: We have no problem if you exist as long as we don’t have to see you or hear about you.

A Real Brokeback Tragedy

6 03 2006

Regardless of how anyone feels about gay marriage, slippery slopes or what not, to lose everything to virtual strangers against someone’s explicit intentions is just shameful.  This should not happen in America.
