Unsafe Sex Rising In Gay Men

30 05 2006

This is both depressing and exciting at the same time. While it certainly is great news that current drug therapies are helping people stay alive, it is absolutely maddening that gay men in this day and age are having unsafe sex. I realize it is a personal choice but then again, so is suicide. And suicide isn't nearly the drain on public health resources.

The Age Of AIDS

This should be required viewing (pesky free registration required). As a member of the public broadcasting corps, I am often proud of what public broadcasting accomplishes. Frontline is one of those times.

NY Republican Supports Gay Marriage But Works Against It

30 05 2006

File this under trying to have it both ways.

Gay Georgians Holding Democrat Accountable

30 05 2006

It is about time the GLBT community held all political candidate's feet to the fire. No support for those who quite frankly are fair weather friends.

Bush Stands For Freedom Except When He Doesn’t

30 05 2006

Freedom for everyone! (except when it isn't politically expedient)…

Bush III?

29 05 2006

Remember

"…Fool me once, shame on — shame on you… We can't get fooled again."

Like a bad penny, it just keeps coming back up.

Christianist Have A Gay Agenda

29 05 2006

Possibly cracking a small childs head open is better than him ending up being gay?!?  As Andrew Sullivan reminds us, the "gay agenda" in place is one of extreme intollerance.  We don't exist and anything done to prevent the horror of growing up gay is allowable, acceptable and preferable.

Frist Agenda: Gay Marriage and Flag Burning

29 05 2006

With all that is going on in this country, this is his agenda? This is what he thinks are the biggest threats in America today? I think he will be surprised that the gay boogeyman just isn't as important to Bubba and Sissy when they can't afford to gas up their pickup.

Happy Memorial Day!

29 05 2006

Just a quick post to wish everyone a happy Memorial Day. I hope you get to spend it with someone you love. Don't forget to take a moment to remember the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure freedom and those who continue the valiant fight.

Blogging may be light over the next week as I will be in the Windy City attending a meeting for public broadasters but I will try to post as I can. Thanks for dropping by.

Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants Unfair

26 05 2006

Andrew Sullivan points out a situation and pretty much sums up the problem with the immigration reform making its way through congress.

"The law requires we break up a family and lose a legal immigrant with an MBA. Meanwhile, illegal immigrants with nothing like these qualifications get a gradual amnesty. Go figure."

Even if you take the unfairness of a gay marriage not being recognized as equal to a heterosexual one that can last mere hours, this illustrates the problem of granting illegal immigrants amnesty in any form. People who have worked within the system are being ignored while those who broke our laws are rewarded.

Religious Right Uses Mary Cheney To Raise Funds

26 05 2006

Where is Lynne Cheney’s stinging rebuke of these people for using her daughter’s sexuality for their own gain? I won’t hold my breath.

Jose Sarria Honored

26 05 2006

A true pioneer for gay acceptance has been honored in San Francisco. Jose is a personal friend and though he can be quite outspoken and even controversial at times, he is quite the character and definitely derserving of being honored. As the first openly gay political candidate, his campaign, though unsuccessful, opend the door that Harvey Milk would later walk through. Jose is correct when he utters his personal catch phrase:

"United we stand, divided they catch us one-by-one."

Congratulations Jose.

Only 24% of Americans Trust Bush

26 05 2006

The one thing President Bush always had going for him was that people thought him to be honest. Not so much anymore. Natalie Maines is looking more clairvoyant everyday.

President Bush on Accountability

26 05 2006

And thus said Bush:

"Let me be clear: Investigating and prosecuting crime is a crucial executive responsibility that I take seriously," he said. "Those who violate the law — including a member of Congress — should and will be held to account. This investigation will go forward and justice will be served."

Does that also apply to members of the Executive?

Bush And Blair Admit Difficulty In Iraq

26 05 2006

Well 'ya think?!?  My favorite quote:

"Bush shared some of his regrets in how he handled the war in Iraq, namely that he wishes he hadn't told the terrorists to "bring it on."

"I think in certain parts of the world it was misinterpreted," Bush said, adding that he has learned how to express himself in a more "sophisticated" manner."

Six years into his presidency and now he gets that his cowboy swagger doesn't work.  Nobody ever accused Bush of being a fast learner.
