Ann Coulter Stirs Up GOP

5 03 2007

And they eat their own

Say what you will about Ann Coulter, and I certainly have, but she says what some others only think.  That has always been her appeal and she will continue to have an audience.  She has certainly said much worse and that didn’t seem to effect her popularity.

I tend to agree with one commenter on another Ann Coulter thread on the GayPatriot site who said:

“The real scandal is not Ann Coulter – it is the fact that she is LOVED by the conservative base. Hell, she was even introduced by a leading presidential candidate last night. And after her talk there was a line a mile long to get her to sign books.”

The big story is not what Ann Coulter said, because let’s face it this wasn’t particularly shocking in the Ann Coulter sphere of things, but the Conservative reaction.  I am glad to see the leading GOP Presidential hopefuls taking the high road.

Other than Andrew, will the right finally call Ann Coulter the demagogue that she is? Imagine if Maureen Dowd had suggested poisoning Justice Scalia. The right would be carrying on about “moonbats” and “wacky liberals.” They would certainly and rightfully call that offensive and they should do the same here.

26 03 2005

From Miami Herald:

“Hours after a judge ordered that Terri Schiavo was not to be removed from her hospice, a team of state agents were en route to seize her and have her feeding tube reinserted — but they stopped short when local police told them they would enforce the judge’s order, The Herald has learned.”

The Saga of Terri Schiavo

21 03 2005

From CNN.com:

“Hours earlier, President Bush signed into a law a bill authorizing the federal courts to review the case after emergency weekend sessions in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. “

I have not written earlier on Terri Schiavo largely because I didn’t want to add additional exposure to what should be a completely private affair. But when President Bush cut his vacation short to fly back to Washington to sign this, I felt it now was a larger issue.
